Union Sports Minister Anurag Singh Thakur felicitates Fit India Quiz State Round Winners, gives away over Rs 2cr as prize money
The Honourable Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports and Information and Broadcasting Shri Anurag Singh Thakur on July 21 felicitated 72 students from 36 states and UTs, who are winners of Fit India Quiz State Rounds and will now participate in the final round that will be telecast on Star Sports.
The Fit India Quiz, which is a first-of-its-kind national-level quiz exclusively on sports and fitness, saw participation of 36,299 students from more than 13,500 schools across the country in the preliminary rounds and had a total of 360 selected schools across the country compete in the State Rounds. The winners of the state rounds were given cash awards at a glittering function in Mumbai. The schools from which the winners have made it to the finals were also given cash rewards.
Speaking to the students at the function Shri. Thakur said, “You are not just representing 36 states and Union Territories today. You are those 72 students among 1.3 billion Indians who are now Ambassadors of sports and fitness. The amount of knowledge you posses about sports and fitness, very few people in this country have that.” He went on to motivate the students further by saying, “You are the future of the country and I am sure that you will contribute greatly to Azadi ka Amrit Kaal, the 75 years that begin after our 75th year of Independence, Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.”
The 36 winning teams (2 students in each team) of the state rounds and their school representatives were on Thursday given prize money for being the State Round Champions, with the School being awarded Rs 2,50,000 and the two students being rewarded Rs. 12,500 each. The total amounting to over Rs 2 Cr was released for the prize money on the day itself.
Further, for the National Rounds, the champion school will receive – Rs 25 lakh, Rs 2.5 lakh for two students (1.25 lakh each), 1st runner up will get 15 lakh (school) and 1.5 lakh (75k for each student) and 2nd runner up will get 10 lakhs (school), 1 lakh (50k each student).
