At the Hockey India League (HIL) Player Auction 2024/25 for the women’s competition, Udita made headlines as the most expensive Indian player, acquired by Shrachi Rarh Bengal Tigers for a whopping ₹32 lakh. Dutch international Yibbi Jansen became the costliest overseas player, secured by Odisha Warriors for ₹29 lakh.
Other notable Indian signings included Lalremsiami, who Shrachi Rarh Bengal Tigers picked up for ₹25 lakh, and Sunelita Toppo and Sangita Kumari, both of whom were acquired by Delhi SG Pipers for ₹24 lakh and ₹22 lakh, respectively. Key members of the Indian women’s hockey team also found franchises, with Soorma Hockey Club purchasing Salima Tete and Savita for ₹20 lakh each and Delhi SG Pipers signing Navneet Kaur for ₹19 lakh.
Among overseas players, Belgium’s Charlotte Englebert and Germany’s Charlotte Stapenhorst were picked by Soorma Hockey Club for ₹16 lakh each, while Odisha Warriors acquired Australia’s Jocelyn Bartram for ₹15 lakh.
Additionally, several unsold players from the Indian senior and junior women’s teams lowered their base price to ₹2 lakh to attract bids. This led to selections like Madhuri Kindo (₹3.40 lakh to Odisha Warriors), Jyoti Chhatri (₹5 lakh to Odisha Warriors), Deepika Soreng (₹2.20 lakh to Soorma Hockey Club), and Rutuja Dadaso Pisal (₹4.90 lakh to Odisha Warriors), all securing spots in the league’s inaugural edition.
