Kamran Ghulam’s Century Boosts Pakistan in Test Series
Debutant Kamran Ghulam quickly won over Pakistan cricket fans with a resilient and crucial century in the second Test against England on October 15. His impressive debut innings led to comparisons with Babar Azam, whom the 29-year-old replaced in the squad. Kamran’s selection came after the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) boldly moved to drop Babar, the team’s top batter, in favor of domestic star Kamran Ghulam. Grabbing the opportunity, Kamran scored a brilliant half-century in his first Test appearance, earning widespread praise.
The decision to drop Babar followed Pakistan’s defeat in the first Test in Multan. Despite solid contributions from players like Shan Masood, Abdullah Shafique, and Salman Ali Agha, the team faced intense criticism. Babar Azam’s prolonged dip in form had become a significant concern, as he had gone 18 innings without a half-century. In the Multan Test, Babar scored just 30 and 5 runs across two innings, intensifying the pressure on the star player.
Kamran Ghulam’s strong debut performance has sparked optimism among Pakistan fans, who hope his inclusion can help turn the team’s fortunes around in the ongoing Test series.
