Top Indian players who went unsold in the IPL auction
The IPL 2022 Mega Auction took place from the 12th of February and ended after all the teams had successfully recruited the players in their squad for the upcoming IPL 2022 edition on 13th of February, Sunday.
Some big names were bought in the auction with the costliest player of the lot being Ishan Kishan who was sold to the Mumbai Indians for a hefty sum of Rs 15.25 Crore. However, there were some players who didn’t seem to attract any of the 10 IPL franchises this time. Here are some of the famous Indian players who had to go unsold this time:
Suresh Raina: Mr. IPL going unsold in this edition of the IPL was one of the biggest shocks of the auction for sure. Suresh Raina did not even feature in the last list of the accelerated process. This goes to show that the franchises are thinking ahead and want to invest in the future.
Ishant Sharma: Ishant Sharma may well decide that it is the end of the road for him after he was left unsold in this year’s auction. He was bought by the Capitals in 2019 for Rs 1.1 Cr, but he did not live up to his expectations as he did not get too many chances.
Amit Mishra: An IPL veteran wicket-taker – it was surprising to see Mishra go unsold in this auction. Teams were expected to look for wrist-spinners and he has that bowling experience as well. In all probability, the Capitals did not go for him because they had already picked up Kuldeep Yadav and Praveen Dubey.
