There was never a dull time while you were around: Sachin Tendulkar
The renowned batsman Sachin Tendulkar shared an emotional letter on Facebook, mourning the passing of his good friend and fiercest on-field rival, Shane Warne. On Friday, March 4, at the age of 52, the Australian cricketer died after a suspected heart attack. According to a family statement, Warne was in a Thailand villa when physicians tried unsuccessfully to resuscitate him.
Much has been said about the encounter between Warne and Tendulkar, the two men who attracted massive audiences to cricket stadiums all over the world. Their confrontations were a must-see event in international cricket because none of them gave an inch to the other.
Off the field, the two had a great deal of respect for one another. Cricket was promoted in the United States through the “Cricket All-Stars” tournament, in which Tendulkar and Warne captained their teams. Two renowned cricketers’ friendship is showcased in photos from the competition.
On Friday, Sachin Tendulkar took to social media to offer his heartfelt condolences, adding that he will miss his good friend.
Tendulkar called himself shocked, disoriented, and depressed after this incident.
I will miss you, Warnie. There was never a dull moment with you around, on or off the field. Our on-field brawls and off-field banter will live on in our minds forever. You’ve always had a soft spot for India, and Indians have always had a soft spot for you. “Gone too early!”
At a time when fast bowlers ruled the roost in Australia, Sharne Warne is largely recognised with revitalising the technique of leg-spin bowling. Warne experienced significant personal and professional setbacks, including missing the 2003 World Cup due to alleged substance usage, but nothing could detract from his legacy as one of the game’s all-time greats.
Shane Warne just commented on social media on Friday morning, offering his sympathies to the family of another iconic Australian cricketer, Rod Marsh, who died on Thursday.
Warne, who had been active on social media, only tweeted from Thailand on Thursday evening. The world-famous leg-spinner shared a photo of his property in the Asian country.
