KL Rahul’s Versatility and Young Talent Highlighted by India Coach
Suryakumar Yadav and Deepak Chahar have been ruled out
India captain Rohit Sharma told the press on the eve of the first T20I against Sri Lanka in Lucknow that the injury to in-form Suryakumar Yadav was a major blow for the Indian squad since he had been in excellent form in the T20I series against the West Indies.
Suryakumar Yadav and Deepak Chahar have been ruled out of India’s forthcoming three-match Twenty20 International series against Sri Lanka. Both players were injured on the field during the last T20I against the West Indies.
The third and final Twenty20 International between India and the West Indies ended on Sunday in Kolkata with Deepak Chahar suffering a right quadriceps injury while bowling, and Suryakumar Chahar losing a hairline fracture as he fielded. According to a BCCI announcement, they will now be moved to the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru for additional injury care.
Suryakumar, the T20I Player of the Series, was standing in the slips when he sustained a hairline fracture in his hand in the second innings after striking a 31-ball 65 in the first.
“A significant setback. He was in terrific shape, but there are so many other people waiting for a chance. At the same time, I am heartbroken for Surya. It was a bizarre accident. You have no control over these things “Rohit Sharma said reporters at a news conference ahead of the T20I series against Sri Lanka.
Rohit also spoke on Sanju Samson’s comeback for the Sri Lanka series, stating the Kerala wicketkeeper is bright and has the skill set to succeed. Because of his superb backfoot game, Samson is in team management’s plans for the T20 World Cup in Australia later this year, according to Rohit.
Samson last appeared for the Men in Blue in the shortest version of the game in a July 2021 away series against Sri Lanka. Since his T20I debut in 2015, the 27-year-old has played in 10 matches for India, scoring 117 runs at an average of 11.70, with his highest individual score of 27.
“Sanju Samson has talent; anytime we’ve seen him bat, he’s given innings that have left fans in awe.. He has the skill required to succeed – his backfoot game is fantastic – and he is definitely being considered “Sharma continued.
