Suresh Raina pens a touching tribute to his late father.
Suresh Raina, a former Indian cricketer, posted a heart-warming message on social media a day after his father died. On Sunday, February 6, Trilokchand Raina passed away at his home in Uttar Pradesh after a long fight with cancer.
Suresh Raina posted an emotional message on social media, claiming that he has lost his support system.
“No words can describe the pain of losing a father. Yesterday, on passing away of my father, I also lost my support system, my pillar of strength. He was a true fighter till his last breath. May you rest in peace Papa. You will forever be missed,” Raina said in his post.
Suresh Raina’s father, a veteran army officer, was diagnosed with cancer in December of last year and his condition has been deteriorating since then.
Harbhajan Singh, Raina’s former India and Chennai Super Kings colleague, expressed his sympathy. “Very sad to hear Suresh Raina’s father @ImRaina RIP uncle Ji,” Harbhajan wrote in a tweet.
Raina played 18 Tests, 226 ODIs, and 78 T20Is for India, which won the World Cup in 2011. In 2018, he last played for Inda. Raina announced his retirement from international cricket on August 15, 2020, just hours after MS Dhoni announced his retirement from the game.
Raina was a part of the winning Chennai Super Kings team in the Indian Premier League 2021. However, he only played 12 matches and scored only 160 runs until an injury forced him to withdraw from the tournament.
Raina was not retained by Chennai Super Kings, who decided to keep MS Dhoni, Ravindra Jadeja, Moeen Ali, and Ruturaj Gaikwad.
Raina has set a base price of Rs 2 crore for himself, and he is one of 590 players who have been shortlisted for the IPL 2022 auction, that will take place in Bengaluru on February 12 and 13.
