Steve Smith and Usman Khawaja help Australia reach 232/5 at the end of day 1 of the final test. Cameron Greem and Alex Carey were at the crease at stumps.
The second match ended in a draw after a valiant fightback by Pakistan led by Skipper Babar Azam kept Australian bowlers at bay. Both the previous matches ended in a draw.
Pat Cummins won the toss and decided to bat first.
Shaheen Afridi gave Pakistan a great start as he dismissed both David Warner and Marnus Labuschagne cheaply. The Aussies were struggling at 8/2.
In came Steve Smith and he along with Usman Khawaja put on a 138 run stand for the 3rd wicket.
This really helped Australia out of danger of collapsing like Pakistan did in their 1st innings of the 2nd test.
Naseem Shah took the wicket of Steve Smith and then Travis Head to put Pakistan back on top.
Sajid Khan who was a tad expensive took the prized wicket of an inform Usman Khawaja. The Aussie opener narrowly missed out on his century as he fell 9 runs short.
The test is finely poised as both teams are in a good position.
The team that takes day 2, would most likely be the favorites to win the Test match as well as the series.
