Sports Trumpet exclusive with boxer Ashish Kumar
In an interview with us, Ashish Kumar speaks about his expectations from the CWG 2022, his preparations, the support that the Government and the Federation have provided.
Ashish Kumar is an Indian boxer, who has won the Gold Medal in 2019 at the Thailand Open International Boxing Tournament held in Bangkok. He also has a silver and a bronze medal to his name.
First up, Ashish speaks about the training he has done and what he is aiming for, at the Commonwealth Games, 2022.
“I am proud that I have been chosen to represent the Tri-coloured flag at the Commonwealth Games, 2022. I am extremely happy and I hope that I can repay the faith in me by bagging a Gold Medal at the Games.”

Ashish also has some words of praise for the coach that has trained him for the upcoming major event.
“The credit for my training goes to my coaches. They have helped me, supported me, guided me to train for the CWG 2022 and I hope I can make them proud with my performances at the games.”
Next up, Ashish speaks about the contributions of the Boxing Federation of India in preparing him for the Commonwealth Games.
“I have received a lot of support from the Boxing Federation of India, in preparing for the Commonwealth Games. They and the Government have been immensely supportive and they are the reason that we athletes have been able to prepare well for the Commonwealth Games, 2022.”
Lastly, Ashish reveals how his parents and his loved ones are feeling about the fact that he will be representing the country at the CWG, 2022.
“My mother and father have helped me through thick and thin and they are extremely proud of the fact that I will be representing my nation at a major International event.”
“My relatives, my friends and my family, all have given me the best of wishes and are praying that I am able to perform to my potential at the Games in UK.”
The Commonwealth Games are set to commence in UK, from the 28th of July.
