Sports Trumpet Exclusive Interview With Nishu Kumar

Sitting on the top of the table of the Hero Indian Super League Kerala Blaster is in a great run of form. With a slim lead on the top of the table, Kerala defeated Hyderabad Fc 1-0 in their last game and are now all set to face defending champions Mumbai City Fc in their upcoming match.

In an exclusive interview given to Sports Trumpet Kerala Blasters defender, Nishu Kumar spoke on a variety of topics including his life at KBFC, his struggles with injuries, and his relationship with Sunil Chhetri.

What is the feeling in the camp currently?

We are really happy at the moment because we are on top of the table. We had a poor start to the campaign as we lost the first match but we bounced back and it feels great to be on top of the table.

On being asked about Injuries
After leaving Bengaluru Fc I played some games and got injured it was a bad phase for me but at the same time injuries are a part of the game so as a player I have to deal with it. During the pre-season, the coach told me that he believes in me and the coach played a big part in my comeback.
Currently, I am getting opportunities to play and I am performing well so I am happy.

How is your relationship with Harmanjot Khabra?
I’ve been playing with him for the last 4 years, he is a great guy and very experienced with a strong mentality I’ve learned so much from him. We share a great bonding although we argue with each other on and off the field it’s all love.

How have the KBFC welcomed you?
Fans are a huge part of a club and especially at a club like KBFC fans are very supportive. When I signed for the club within seconds of I started recibe messages on my social media Handel’s and the love showed by them was heart-warming. Even during hard times during injuries they were messaging me abused me to come back soon and they were part of the journey for the past 1.5 years and it feels like a giant family and I am thankful to them.

How is your relationship with Sunil Chhetri?

Sunil Bhai is an idol for not only me but the entire country. I got the opportunity to play alongside him during my time at Bengaluru and he was always supportive. He is like my elder brother and I miss playing with him. I hope he keeps playing and he is a legend of the game.

What is the role of diet?
As a professional football player you need to take care of your diet I take more proteins and Carbs in my diet and I try to remain strict with the diet.

Who are the Key KBFC players?
I can’t give you a few names the whole team is performing really well each player is doing good in their positions and every player is playing a crucial role. Our Indian players are performing really well and I hope we continue to perform like this.
