Shreyas Iyer is nominated for player of the month
In both men’s and women’s international cricket, the ICC has named India’s Shreyas Iyer, Mithali Raj, and Deepti Sharma as Players of the Month for February.
The women’s division has been nominated by New Zealand‘s Amelia Kerr, India’s Mithali Raj, and India’s Deepti Sharma. In February, Shreyas Iyer was unstoppable, playing a key role in India’s white-ball supremacy. In the final One-Day International against the West Indies, he scored 80 runs, winning the Player of the Match award. In the final Twenty-20 International, he scored 25 runs off 16 balls.
As Suryakumar Yadav was unavailable for the T20I series against Sri Lanka, Iyer was promoted to the No. 3 spot. With three consecutive 50-run games, he totalled 204 runs with a strike rate of 174.35, earning him Player of the Series honours. In the one-day international series against New Zealand, Mithali Raj was one of India’s few bright spots. She was the greatest run-scorer for India and the second-highest overall with 232 runs, including three fifties, an average of 77.33 with a strike rate of 82.56.
She was perfect in the last ODI as the finisher, scoring 54 runs as India chased down 252 with four overs to spare. India completed the series on a positive note with this victory. During the series against New Zealand, Deepti Sharma was exceptional with both the bat and the ball. With 10 wickets in five ODIs, she had the most success with the ball (116 runs in five matches). In the second ODI, she got four wickets and then batted 69* in the third.
