Should Virat Kohli be dropped from the Indian team?
Should Virat Kohli be given more chances, despite his poor form or should he be replaced in the team?
After another match without a high score, the air regarding Virat Kohli’ spot in the team thickens. With the loss against England, the Indian think tank definitely needs to make some changes.
Everyone knows that Virat scored his last century in 2019 but, the figures have been dropping ever since.
Not only has it been 900+ days without a century, Kohli’s average has dropped below 50 as well. The star Indian batter has failed to impress on many occasions.
Even in the last match against England, Kohli only managed to score 11 and 20 in his 2 innings at the crease.

With the team struggling in batting and run flow from the bat of Virat Kohli diminishing, should Virat still be getting a place in the playing XI?
Currently, Virat Kohli’s average in International cricket is 36. This is not good enough for any player playing at the top level, let alone the player who averages 50+ in almost all forms of the game.
A century might be farther than it seems as Kohli is struggling to carry on after settling in.
Since December 6, 2019, Virat Kohli has played a total of 65 international matches, he has 2509 runs in his name in 75 innings. He has 24 half-centuries during this time period.
In the ongoing series against England, Kohli has managed to score just 249 runs in 9 innings. His average drops right down to 27.66.
If Pujara and Rahane were dropped for poor form, shouldn’t Kohli be dropped too?
Rahane and Pujara were struggling to muster up runs during their downward phase. Both had not gotten to a century in a long period of time.
As a result, they were dropped from the test series against Sri Lanka. Now, Kohli has been struggling as much as them, if not more, with the bat.
So the decision arises as to whether King Kohli, still deserves a spot in the Indian test team? Will the selectors be able to look past Kohli? Will Virat withdraw himself from the test team to focus more on the other formats?
Only time will tell us the answers to the above questions.
