Saurabh Chaudhary of India won the 10m air pistol gold medal in Cairo
Saurabh Chaudhary, an ace shooter from India, won the gold medal match in the 10m air pistol event at the ISSF World Cup in Cairo, defeating German Micheal Schwald.
Artem Chernousov of Russia won bronze in the event, despite his country’s flag being taken due to its role in the current crisis in Ukraine.
As a 19-year-old Olympian who has already won a gold medal at the Youth Olympics, Saurabh finished third with a total of 584 points in the 10m air pistol qualification round, qualifying among the top eight competitors.
He advanced to the medal match after scoring 38 in relay 1, the final stage of the competition. His score of 42.5 again gave him the top spot.
Ruchita Vinerkar, Esha Singh and Shri Nivetha represent India in the women’s 10m air pistol event.
In the Cairo World Cup, there will be 500 shooters from 60 countries competing for 20 medals.
