Sanju Samson Praises Gambhir’s Support Following Maiden T20I Century
Wicket-keeper batter Sanju Samson has expressed his gratitude towards India’s head coach, Gautam Gambhir, for his unwavering support and encouragement. This praise comes after Samson celebrated his first T20I century against Bangladesh in Hyderabad.
According to Firstpost, Samson emphasized the significance of the relationship between a coach and a player. “I agree that the relationship between a coach and a player is very important,” he stated. “The coach trusts in your ability, and you want to repay that trust by performing well for your team.”
Reflecting on his journey in the T20I series, Samson shared his determination to impress Gambhir. “In Hyderabad, I was determined and desperately wanted to show Gauti bhai that if you are backing me and giving me the chances, I won’t disappoint you,” he explained.
Despite facing challenges in the early matches of the series, where he struggled to score big, Samson remained optimistic. “I didn’t score big in the first couple of matches and I was a bit hesitant to make eye contact with him, but I told myself that apna time aayega (my time will come),” he added.
When Samson finally reached his milestone in Hyderabad, he was overjoyed to see Gambhir’s reaction. “So when I got that hundred in Hyderabad and the coach was clapping, I was delighted,” he said.
Samson’s performance and his bond with Gambhir highlight the positive atmosphere within the Indian team, as they look to build on their success in the ongoing series against Bangladesh.
