After reaching the semi-finals for the first time in mixed doubles, Sania Mirza and Mate Pavic’s magical journey came to a stop. They lost the match, 6-4, 5-7. 4-6.
After winning a hard fought first set, Mirza and Mate had the upper hand and the momentum going into the 2nd set.
But Neal Skupski and Desirae Krawczyk did not give up till the end and ended up being triumphant. A similar pattern was seen in the decider set, where the Britain-American duo went on to win another closely fought set.
This might be the very last time Indian star Sania takes court at the Wimbledon. Mirza has done us proud over her long and decorated career that lasted over 2 decades.
As for the defending champions and World number 2, Neal Skupski and Desirae Krawczyk will play the Australian duo of Matthew Ebden and Samantha Stosur at the Centre court.
The final will commence at 8:30 pm IST, tonight.
