Ruturaj Gaikwad has been ruled out of the T20I series.
According to the BCCI, Ruturaj Gaikwad has been ruled out of the ongoing T20I series against Sri Lanka due to a right wrist injury. The right-handed opening batsman, who was ruled out of the series opener in Lucknow, Prior to the first T20I in Bengaluru, he complained of stiffness in his right wrist joint and planned to visit the National Cricket Academy (NCA) for the same reason.
The BCCI’s medical team examined him on Thursday, “the BCCI said in a release that Ruturaj’s replacement for the remaining two games in Dharamsala is Mayank Agarwal.”
After an MRI scan, a specialist meeting was scheduled. Injury treatment for Ruturaj will take place at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru. By the decision of the All-India Senior Selection Committee, Mayank Agarwal has been selected for the two remaining Twenty20 Internationals. The press release reports that Mayank has joined the Dharamsala team.
Ruturaj has just begun his international career. Injuries and health difficulties have hampered the right-handed batsmen’s progress, preventing him from receiving regular opportunities. In the second T20I, India will face Sri Lanka in Dharamsala on Saturday in the hope of sealing the series. In the opening encounter of the series, the Rohit Sharma-led squad easily trounced the visitors by 62 runs.
