Rohit Sharma was happy with Ishan Kishan’s batting.
Captain Rohit Sharma lavished praise on Ishan Kishan after the youthful opener scored 89 runs in India’s 62-run triumph against Sri Lanka in the opening T20I on Thursday. Rohit Sharma was particularly pleased with Ravindra Jadeja’s return, stating that the team’s management expects him to play with the bat given the star all-rounder’s vein of success in the Test and limited-overs formats.
On Thursday, India crushed Sri Lanka at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow by 62 runs in the opening of a three-match T20I series, driven by stunning fifties from Ishan and Shreyas Iyer.
After being asked to bat first, India established a tough total of 199 for 2, and the visitors never got going after losing in-form opener Pathum Nissanka for a golden duck as the Indian bowlers continued hitting with precision bowling. The match seemed to be over at 97/6, but Charith Asalanka, the middle-order batsman, fought valiantly and finished undefeated on 53 off 47 deliveries.
When you play the support style that we do, these [form dips] are inescapable. I’m familiar with Ishan’s attitude and skill, and it was a joy to see him bat today, Rohit Sharma said, “
[Regarding Jadeja] I’m quite pleased with him. We expect more from him, therefore we gave him the order, which you’ll see more of in the next games. We want to take advantage of his excellent record, particularly in Test cricket, in short overs.” Rohit continued.
On the other hand, Rohit pointed out that the Indian fielding coach has his job cut out for him after the squad lost a few crucial catches against Sri Lanka. Rohit Sharma stated that he wants India to be the top fielding team in Australia.
I love playing on large fields because it puts your battering talents to the test. You can easily time the ball for a six in Kolkata. We’re missing a handful of receptions, which is odd for a team of our caliber .Our fielding coach, has some work to do.
