Rohit Sharma praises Prasidh Krishna for his performance.
Prasidh Krishna, a young Indian bowler, said it was great to receive high appreciation from Rohit Sharma following his match-winning stint in the second One-Day International against the West Indies on Wednesday in Ahmedabad. Prasidh concluded with 4/12 in 9 overs as India successfully defended a below-par total of 237 in the second ODI to take a 2-0 lead in the three-match series.
Prasidh played his first ODI against England at home in 2021, and the tall fast, who has been dubbed the “next great thing” in Indian cricket, said he has been longing to accomplish something special for the squad. The Karnataka fast bowler admitted that he was carried away by emotions in his first few games, but that the more time he spent with the senior national squad, the more comfortable he became with the setup.
After coming in as the first-change bowler, Prasidh Krishna delivered three maiden overs, breaking the back of the West Indies batting line. Prasidh came in fast and struck the deck hard to worry the West Indies hitters on a pitch that aided pacers at the Narendra Modi Stadium.
Prasidh claimed the wickets of Brandon King (18), Darren Bravo (1), and stand-in captain Nicholas Pooran (9) before taking the final wicket, Kemar Roach (0), in the 46th over of the match.
After winning his first full-time series as ODI captain, Rohit Sharma claimed he hadn’t seen a spell like Prasidh’s from an Indian bowler in a long, long time.
“I was shocked to notice that there was no dew. I haven’t seen anything like it in India in a long time. Bowled with ferocity and kept it going. The other people complimented him “Rohit said.
In response to the compliments, Prasidh stated: “That meant a lot to me since he (Rohit) has been playing cricket for a long time. I am overjoyed to hear that from him.”
