England’s Record-Breaking Test Win: The Multan Miracle Against Pakistan
Rohit Sharma will open the first ODI with Ishan Kishan
Rohit Sharma, India’s limited-overs captain, confirmed on Saturday that Ishan Kishan will open the innings with him in the first One-Day International against the West Indies on Sunday.
While KL Rahul has been added to the squad for the second ODI, Shikhar Dhawan and Ruturaj Gaikwad have tested positive for COVID-19 and are being held in isolation in Ahmedabad. Because the replacement player, Mayank Agarwal, is still in quarantine, Kishan will start alongside Rohit in the first game.
In a press conference on the eve of the first match, India captain Rohit Sharma confirmed that, with Mayank Agarwal still in quarantine, “Ishan Kishan is the only option” for the opening role.
“Unless, of course, there is an injury. Today is a training day…” On Saturday, Rohit stated.
Earlier, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) added batter Mayank Agarwal to India’s One-Day International (ODI) squad on Wednesday after seven players, including four players — Shreyas Iyer, Shikhar Dhawan, Ruturaj Gaikwad, and Navdeep Saini (standby) — tested positive for Covid-19 after arriving in Ahmedabad.
The ODI series will be played without any spectators at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium. The second and third one-day internationals will be played on February 9 and 11, respectively.
