India’s star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja found himself at the center of controversy during a media interaction at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) ahead of the highly anticipated Boxing Day Test against Australia. A viral video of the event has intensified debates, with the Australian media accusing Jadeja of refusing to answer questions in English.
In the video, Team India’s media manager is seen in a heated discussion with an Australian journalist who criticized Jadeja for leaving the press conference without addressing their queries. The manager explained that Jadeja was in a rush as the team bus was already delayed, but the journalist labeled the situation as “disorganized and hopeless.”
Reports from 7News claimed that Jadeja’s refusal to answer questions in English created “an annoying situation” for local journalists. However, Indian journalists present clarified that the interaction was primarily arranged for Indian media, and Jadeja’s departure was due to time constraints. They also suggested that the Australian media had overreacted, emphasizing that there was no obligation for Jadeja to respond in English.
This incident comes shortly after Virat Kohli faced a privacy invasion issue at an Australian airport. Kohli was reportedly upset when cameras shifted focus to him and his family while journalists were interviewing Australian pacer Scott Boland. Concerned about his children being filmed without consent, Kohli had a tense exchange with a TV reporter. However, the situation de-escalated after the reporter assured Kohli that his kids were not recorded, ending the interaction on a positive note with a handshake.
