Jasprit Bumrah’s Workload Debate: Balwinder Singh Sandhu Criticizes Modern “Workload
Ravichandran Ashwin is on the verge of surpassing Kapil Dev
Ravichandran Ashwin is set to be named in India’s starting line-up for the first Test against Sri Lanka, which starts on Friday in Mohali.
Ashwin is making good progress. There are no issues at all.He looked good and performed admirably in practise today. Batted, bowled, and fielded. Hopefully, there will be no difficulties.” Bumrah said this in a virtual meeting with reporters before of the Test series against Sri Lanka.
If Ashwin is fit, he will be a sure bet because of his outstanding record in home conditions. Ravichandra Ashwin is on the brink of reaching a significant milestone, which he may only be able to do if he plays in Mohali.
So far, Ashwin has 430 wickets in 84 Tests, just four wickets behind Indian cricket hero Kapil Dev, who finished his career with 434 wickets in 131 Tests. When Ashwin passes Kapil, he will become India’s second-highest wicket-taker, trailing only Anil Kumble, who concluded his illustrious career with 619 wickets in 132 Tests.
Kapil had overtaken New Zealand’s Richard Hadlee to become the most wicket-taker in Test cricket in 1994.
Ashwin is also on course to overtake Richard Hadlee, Rangana Herath, and Dale Steyn who have all played less matches than Ashwin
Many people feel Ashwin has a good chance of breaking Muttiah Muralitharan’s world record of 800 Test wickets. The Indian has passed the halfway point in his quest and will need to keep his form and health if he is to threaten the records of Kumble, Anderson, Warne, and Muralitharan.
Ashwin will go down in history as one of India’s greatest match-winners in Test cricket.
