After struggling for form throughout the 2023-24 season, Marcus Rashford has finally rediscovered his scoring touch. He broke a long-standing goal drought since March with a critical strike in Manchester United’s 3-0 win over Southampton. Following that performance, Rashford netted twice in United’s dominant 7-0 victory over Barnsley in the Carabao Cup, signaling the return of his confidence and sharpness.
Despite his recent resurgence, Rashford was surprisingly left on the bench until the 61st minute in Manchester United’s 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace. Manager Erik Ten Hag defended the decision, citing the need for player rotation given United’s packed fixture schedule. However, former United player Rio Ferdinand has questioned this move, arguing that the timing disrupted Rashford’s momentum, especially after his impressive performances.
With United preparing for their upcoming Europa League clash against Dutch side FC Twente, it remains to be seen whether Rashford will be back in the starting lineup as Ten Hag continues to manage his squad’s workload during a hectic season.
