Ramiz Raja ousted as the head of the Pakistan Cricket Board : As chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Ramiz Raja is allegedly about to be replaced.
Raja, who was chosen for a three-year term in September of last year, will be succeeded by Najam Sethi, per a report in Geo News.
Sethi, 73, previously served the PCB as its Chairman from 2013 to 2014.
The findings were released after Pakistan lost the home Test series against England. To seal a historic series sweep in Pakistan, the Three Lions stormed to an eight-wicket victory in the third and final Test on Tuesday. In a three-test series played at home, Pakistan suffered its first-ever 3-0 defeat.
For the purpose of announcing the team for the forthcoming series against New Zealand beginning on December 26, an interim selection committee will probably be established.
After serving as the PCB chief executive from 2003 to 2004, Raja’s second term with the organisation would come to an end if he were to resign the position.
Raja joined Abdul Hafeez Kardar (1972–1977), Javed Burki (1994–1955), and Ijaz Butt as the only former Pakistani international cricketers to serve as the PCB’s head (2008-2011).
He earned 8,674 runs while playing cricket for his nation in 255 international games.
The 60-year-old has also held a prominent commentary position. Raja praised England’s new strategy for playing Test cricket in an interview with former England captain Michael Atherton after the England series, and he recommended Babar Azam to choose T20 players for Test cricket in the same way that England had done.
He says,
“Like England for example, I suggested to Babar that England are playing the T20 format in a five-day version, so you better pick T20 players here. It’s a forced mindset on Pakistan, which I absolutely like. I want the future generation to think of it as a T20 format, like England are playing,”
