Punjab Kings get the bragging rights as they beat SRH

Match number 70 saw Punjab Kings face SunRisers Hyderabad at the Wankhede Stadium in the last league match of Tata IPL 2022.

SunRisers Hyderabad won the toss and elected to bat first.

1st Innings

It did not prove to be as fruitful as they would’ve thought. SRH scored just 43 runs in the first 6 overs, whilst losing the wicket of Priyam Garg.

Harpreet Brar, who had a gem of a game today, picked up the wicket of Rahul Tripathi as SRH finished their first half of the innings with the score reading 71/2.

Soon, Harpreet got rid off the well set Abhishek Sharma. The young Indian opener, who’s had a great IPL was dismissed 7 off of a well deserved half century.

Nicholas Pooran followed suit, leaving SRH reeling at 87/4 after 13 overs.

But, the men in orange managed to score 70 runs in their last 7 overs, to put up a tricky target of 158 runs.

Many SRH batsmen got a start but failed to capitalse and as a result, SRH ended up with 157 on the board. Harpreet Brar was the pick of the bowlers, as the left arm offie picked up 3/27 in his 4 overs.

2nd Innings

Jonny Bairstow and Shikhar Dhawan got PBKS off to a quick start, as they ended up scoring 62/1 in the power play.

This set the tone for Liam Livingstone as he came in and smashed the bowlers all over the park, to take PBKS home with 5 wickets in hand and 23 balls to spare.

Livingstone has had an excellent season and he finished it off in style for the men in red.

Livingstone scored 49 runs off just 22 balls, to help PBKS over the line.

He smashed 5 sixes and 2 fours to take PBKS to a 6th place finish.

Next up is the Qualifier 1 as Rajasthan Royals take on Gujarat Titans at the Eden Gardens on 24th May, Tuesday.
