Pakistan pacer Mohammad Hasnain has been suspended from bowling for illegal actions.
Pakistani bowler Mohammad Hasnain has been suspended from bowling after an illegal bowling action was discovered, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced on Friday. Umpires in Australia’s just finished Big Bash League reported Hasnain’s bowling action. During the just-ended Big Bash League in Australia, umpires recorded Hasnain’s bowling action.
Mohammad Hasnain is a valuable asset to Pakistan and one of the few bowlers who consistently hits 145kmph. As a result, and with his future and Pakistan’s interests in mind, the PCB has determined, on the suggestion of the PSL 2022 Technical Committee, that he will no longer be able to compete in the Pakistan Super League,” announced the PCB.
Mohammad Hasnain will remain suspended from international cricket until he clears his reassessment. PCB officials have discussed the report with their own bowling experts and are confident that the problem can be resolved. He will use this time to work with the PCB-appointed bowling consultant to improve his bowling action so that he can ask for a reassessment and return to international cricket.
After completing a solid five-game spell with Sydney Thunder, Hasnain underwent the test at the ICC-accredited biomechanics laboratory in Lahore. Hasnain, who once threw a 155kph delivery in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL), has played eight One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and 18 Twenty-Twenty Internationals (T20Is) since making his Pakistan debut in 2019.
He made a great impression in his debut season as a replacement for English pacer Saqib Mahmood, collecting seven wickets from five matches at an average of 15.71 with an economy of 6.00 per over. Hasnain was scheduled to undertake a bowling action test in Australia on January 19, but because he was scheduled to return to Pakistan at the end of his term, it was decided that he would be examined at the ICC-accredited testing facility in Lahore.
According to an official PCB release, “the PCB today received a formal and thorough report from Cricket Australia on Mohammad Hasnain’s assessment test, which revealed that his elbow extension for his good length delivery, full length delivery, slow bouncer, and bouncer exceeded the 15-degree limitations.”
