Neeraj Chopra will lead the athletics team in the CWG
The Indian athletics team for the Commonwealth 2022 has been announced . Olympic gold medalist Neeraj Chopra is going to lead this 37 member team .
The Athletics Federation of India has announced team for the Commonwealth Games . The team will be lead by Olympic gold medalist Neeraj Chopra . There will be 18 women players in the 37 member team , which also includes Hima Das and Dutee Chand .
Recently Avinash Sable , who broke the national record in 3000 m steeplechase and Jyoti Yarraji , who broke her own national record of 100 m last month , also got a place in the team .National record holder Tejaswin Shankar in high jump has also not got a place in the team .
Veteran Seema Punia has been given a chance to participate in the CWG for the 5th time considering her performance in the past . However , Seema will have to achieve the qualifying mark set by the AFI during the competition in the US. Punia has won medals in all her 4 CWG so far.
