Nadal beats Djokovic to advance in the French Open Semi-Finals
Rafael Nadal showed his prowess by defeating Novak Djokovic in a classic thriller of a match
Rafael Nadal was going for his 14th title in this tournament and faced stiff competition from defending champion, Novak Djokovic. He won the match by 6-2 4-6 6-2 7-6 (7-4) at the Roland Garros. It has been a long four hours match.
The Spanish player will now face third seed Alexander Zverev on Friday.
Zverev appears in the semi-finals for the second consecutive year, after facing a hard fightback from teenager Carlos Alcaraz hare on Tuesday.
After the win, Rafael Nadal said,
“To win against Novak there is only one way: to play your best from the first point to the last. “This is one of those magic nights for me.”
The head-to-head record between these two legends, Nadal and Djokovic took a turn after yesterday’s match. It was their 59th match between them in their career. Nadal is now narrowly leading, by a slender gap of 30-29.

Djokovic praised Nadal for his exceptional effort and the win. He said,
“Nadal showed why he is a great champion and stayed mentally tough. No doubt he deserves it,” said Djokovic. He was the better player in the important moments, he started well and I didn’t start so well. I gained momentum in the second set and I thought I was back in the game. But he was able to take his tennis to another level.”
Recently celebrated his 36th birthday, Nadal started off the match in quick fashion and accumulated a precious lead in the match. Later, in the match, Djokovic could not take his chance and didn’t have enough grip and momentum in the game. Djokovic took the game to the tie-break, but Nadal’s brilliance took the game away from the Serbian.
