Mithali Raj has said that India will not take anyone lightly at the ICC Women’s World Cup, even though India has never lost to Pakistan in the history of women’s cricket. India will play Pakistan in their opening match at the Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui on March 6. During the 2017 World Cup, India reached the finals.
On the eve of India’s first match in New Zealand, captain Mithali Raj stated that the first encounter would be used to generate momentum for the tournament.
India struggled in their five-match limited-overs series against New Zealand, losing the lone T20I and the first four ODIs. However, the Asian team seems to be on a winning streak after winning the previous ODI and two warm-up matches against New Zealand.
I believe Pakistan is a terrific team, and I am sure they, like us, have worked extremely hard to prepare for the competition. We can’t afford to take any of the teams here for granted. Therefore, we’ll go into each game with passion and assurance.” Mithali Raj expressed herself.
Having been selected to compete in the World Cup and starting our campaign tomorrow is exciting for our team. Our focus is not on Pakistan; it’s on a team that is prepared, and we’re looking forward to putting our best foot forward as well.
We are pleased to be in the World Cup and to begin our campaign tomorrow as a team. As a team, we’re not focusing on Pakistan as a mere opponent. Instead, we’re looking at a well-prepared team and we want to get a jump start on our season.
As we go into the tournament, we’re trying to build momentum and that’s exactly what we’re doing.
