Mikel Arteta has signed a contract extension with Arsenal
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has signed a contract extension with the club. This deal will keep Arteta at the club till 2025. The 40 year old took over as the manager in 2019.
Many soucres, including renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano have confirmed the extension of Arteta’s stay at Arsenal.
“When I spoke to Josh(son of owner Stan Kroenke), he could see the club at the same point and he wanted to take the club the way I wanted to do it. So everything that he’s said and that Stan has said when I’ve been together with both of them, they’ve always delivered,” said Arteta.
“We want to take the club to the next level and to compete really with the top teams. In order to do that, we have to be playing in the UEFA Champions League. We have to be able to evolve the team, improve our players, improve all departments, generate even more connection with our fans, improve the atmosphere at the Emirates Stadium, be able to recruit top, top talent and the best people for this club to drive this project to the next level,” Arteta added.
Arteta has done a stellar job for the Gunners, as he has them on the verge of a top 4 finish. This means Arsenal will be back in the UEFA Champions League. A competition they haven’t played in since 2016!
But now, with just 4 games remaining, Arsenal are on the cusp of finishing 4th and playing in the UEFA Champions League, again.
Arsenal are well placed in the 4th position, on 63 points, 2 points above fierce North London rivals, Tottenham Hotspurs.
To add to the drama, Arsenal are yet to face Tottenham Hotspur in the 2nd North London derby of the season.
The winner of that game is more than likely to finish in the top 4 and play in arguably the biggest league in Europe.
