Melbourne Cricket Club Is Eager to Host Test Series Pak vs Ind

Melbourne Cricket Club Is Eager to Host Test Series Pak vs Ind : The last time India and Pakistan played a Test match was a very long time ago. Since the suspension of bilateral cricket between the neighbours in 2007, the two nations have not competed in the longest format of the sport.

The Melbourne Cricket Club and the Victorian government have formally enquired to Cricket Australia (CA) about hosting a Test match series between India and Pakistan in Melbourne following the success of the memorable T20 World Cup 2022 match between India and Pakistan in October.

On day 4 of the second Test between Australia and South Africa, MCC Chief Executive Stuart Fox announced on SEN radio that the club and the Victoria government had contacted CA about hosting a neutral Test.

The last international series in which India and Pakistan competed was conducted in 2013, notwithstanding the fact that their last Test match was played in 2007.

After 90,293 spectators jammed the MCG last month to see the thrilling last-ball finish to the famous T20 world cup, Fox said that the MCC would love to welcome the two nations for a Test match.

Fox said,

“Absolutely. Three [Tests] in a row would be lovely at the MCG. You’d fill it every time. We have asked. We’ve taken that up with Cricket Australia. I know the [Victoria] government has as well. Again, it’s enormously complicated from what I can understand, amongst a really busy schedule. So I think that’s probably the greater challenge,”

He further added,

“Wouldn’t it be great that it wasn’t just Australia-centric and Victoria-centric, that we’re catering for all the countries and filling the stadium all the time. So we have asked. Hopefully, Cricket Australia keep taking it up with the ICC and keep pushing for it. When you do see some of the stadiums around the world unoccupied, I think it would be much better to have a full house and that atmosphere and celebrating the game with full houses,”

There are no bilateral cricket matches between India and Pakistan scheduled between 2023 and 2027 as part of the Future Tours Program. The Asia Cup will be place in Pakistan next year, while the ODI World Cup will be in India; neither team’s travel arrangements have been made public.
