The 12th edition of the Dubai Globe Soccer Awards was held in the Burj Khalifa, with Robert Lewandowski among the night’s big winners.

The Poland and Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski capped a record-breaking year by securing the Maradona award for the year’s best goalscorer – and the fans’ player of the year award.

Cristiano Ronaldo who was with Manchester United against Newcastle at the moment of the ceremony on Monday sent a video message in honor of his award as a top goalscorer of all time.

Paris Saint-Germain star Kylian Mbappe has emerged as the winner of the Best Men’s Player of the Year at the Globe Soccer Awards.

Chatting after receiving the award, Mbappe said, “It’s a big pleasure to be here again in Dubai,” Mbappe said. “First of all, I have to wish a Happy New Year to everybody here. It is a big pleasure to see all the big players here, big legends, big names of football”.

Conversing after receiving the honor he said, “Diego Armando Maradona, I know what happened to him last year, so that means a lot, even more, to win this award. Because for me, as a striker, to be in the right position at the right time is always the best feeling so I know that my play, my goals, will boost my teammates. Because without my teammates, without my coaches, it would be difficult to score so many goals.”

Kylian Mbapp was honoured as the men’s player of the year – Alexia Putellas lifted the women’s title.
