Max Verstappen Won F1 Title
Max Verstappen won his first Formula 1 championship in Abu Dhabi the last Sunday. The situation was very intense and the Red Bull team was praying for a “Miracle to happen”. His prayers did not go unheard as Max Verstappen won the race with a dramatic climax.
“It’s insane,” Verstappen said after the race. “The guys at my team, at Honda, I love them so much. Finally, a bit of luck for me.”
Lewis Hamilton was constantly leading the race and it was seeming that Hamilton will lift the cup for 8th time in his career. But the luck was with Max Verstappen who took the opportunity of the incident happened and converted it to the first victory in the Formula One World Championship. The Belgian – Dutch driver took advantage of a second safety car to overtake seven-time champion Lewis Hamilton on the final lap after Nicholas Latifi crashed.
With this victory, Max Verstappen has become the youngest Formula One championship. The day on which he lifted the world championship cup and earned the title of champion he was of 24 years and 73 days age. He said after his fascinating victory, “Of course I will continue driving but of course, in terms of achievements, I have achieved everything in Formula 1 now. So everything that comes next is just a bonus.”
Verstappen was forced to wait until late into the night for the verdict, which was issued four hours after he crossed the line to secure an incredible victory by passing title rival Lewis Hamilton on the final lap of the race. Mercedes was infuriated by how the final laps of the race played out after Nicholas Latifi’s crash triggered a Safety Car period. As Mercedes has expressed its intention to appeal the stewards’ verdict — meaning the team has 96 hours to decide whether to lodge a full appeal or not.
But in the end, the verdict was given in favor of Max Verstappen and he got his first championship cup.
