Jasprit Bumrah’s Workload Debate: Balwinder Singh Sandhu Criticizes Modern “Workload
KL Rahul Mayank Agarwal and Navdeep Saini have been added to Team India.
KL Rahul and opener Mayank Agarwal arrived at Team India’s camp in Ahmedabad on Monday, just days before the second ODI against the West Indies. Meanwhile, Navdeep Saini, who had been isolated after contracting Covid-19, has re-joined the team.
Rahul, Mayank, and Saini were spotted practicing at the Narendra Modi Stadium as India began preparations for the second One-Day International (ODI) on Wednesday.
Notably, KL Rahul was unavailable for the first ODI due to personal obligations. Mayank was not included in the team for the first ODI because he was still in quarantine after being added to the squad last week because of Covid-19 instances in the Indian camp.
Notably, Shikhar Dhawan, Ruturaj Gaikwad, and Shreyas Iyer, as well as four members of the support crew and backup player Saini, all tested positive for Covid-19 upon their arrival in Ahmedabad. According to the BCCI, all eight members of the squad were placed in isolation and were being watched by the BCCI medical staff.
After receiving negative RT-PCR results last week, the remainder of the team trained and onto the field for the first ODI.
The BCCI selection committee also included Ishan Kishan and Shahrukh Khan in the team for Sunday’s opening ODI against the West Indies.
Notably, Ishan began the batting with skipper Rohit Sharma as India successfully chased down a score of 177 in their 1000th One-Day International. Rohit, who returned from a hamstring injury that held him out of India’s tour of South Africa, led from the front with a 51-ball 60, while Suryakumar Yadav and debutant Deepak Hooda made key contributions following India’s middle-order wobble.
Earlier on Sunday, Yuzvendra Chahal and Washington Sundar both took 7 wickets as the West Indies were bowled out for 176, despite Jason Holder’s fifty. The three- match series is now 1-0 after India’s win against West Indies. The 2nd ODI will be played on Wednesday.
