Kiyan Nassiri scores hattrick as ATK Mohun Bagan beat SC East Bengal 3-1
Kiyan Nassiri had the game of his life as he came on as a substitute and scored three goals for ATK Mohun Bagan which gave them a much-needed win against their rivals SC East Bengal in the 2021-22 Hero Indian Super League. SC East Bengal are having a disastrous season this year as they are bottom of the table and are in desperate need of some points on the board. Whereas, ATK Mohun Bagan are pushing much more powerfully for points and are currently 4th in the league table with two games in hand on 1st position Hyderabad FC.
SCEB started on the right note and gave ATKMB some good competition in the first half. Later on, they were the ones who opened the scoring when Darren Sidoel converted a corner in the 54th minute of the game. The ATKMB strikers were firing blanks in the game till the hour mark. Head Coach Juan Ferrando then decided to make a change in the way things were going and introduced Kiyan into the game in the 61st minute. Kiyan proved to be a super-sub and announced his arrival in style as he scored from his first touch of the game within three minutes of his introduction.
Later in the game, it was Kiyan who decided the game for his team by scoring two goals in the space of two minutes in stoppage time and gave ATKMB their much-needed win in the Kolkata derby. It was an ironic moment as well as he is the son of former East Bengal player Jamshid Nassiri and scored a hattrick against his father’s team. The future looks bright for the 21-year-old as he will now look to grab each and every opportunity given to him in the future to make a name for himself.
