Captain Bumrah Destroyed Stuart Broad Just like Yuvraj Singh in 2007 T20I
Ind vs Eng: History repeats itself, as Indian captain Jasprit Bumrah clobbers Stuart Broad for 35 runs in an over.
Just like Yuvraj Singh in 2007, Jasprit Bumrah breaks record of most runs scored in an over in Test Cricket. Stuart Broad was the bowler on both occasions.
In 2007, en-route the then highest total by a team, Yuvraj Singh was in full flow, as he smashed 6 6’s in an over off Stuart Broad.
That innings took the world by storm. Yuvraj Singh also got to his 50 off just 12 balls, a record that still stand tall.
15 years past that magnificent innings, Jasprit Bumrah smashes Broad for 35 off an over, the most ever scored in an over in Test Cricket.
Off the 35, 29 runs came off the bat of Bumrah. The previous record was of 28, when both Brian Lara and Goerge Bailey smashed Robin Peterson and James Anderson.
This unwanted record for Stuart Broad came in the same match he picked up his 550th wicket in Test cricket.
He is only the third pacer to do so, after Glenn McGrath and partner in crime, James Anderson. Currently, Anderson is miles ahead in terms of wickets taken, with 656 in the bank. McGrath comes in 2nd, with 563 and now Broad ranks third with 550.
Bumrah’s incredible hitting meant India ended up with 416 on the board, which is quite a feat, given, they lost their first 5 wickets for just 98 runs.
Rishabh Pant and Sir Ravindra Jadeja went on to score centuries, before Bumrah’s onslaught dealt further blow to the English hopes.
Every cricket fan enjoyed the match-up between Jasprit Bumrah and Stuart Broad.
