Is this Virat Kohli running out of chances to perform?
Virat Kohli will be available from the second T20 match against England, but the former Indian cricketer feels that he is not sure in the team. He will be selected in the team only on the basis of his form.
Many senior India players will not be available in the first match of the three-match T20I series against England. The players, who were part of the Test team, have been rested in the first T20 match.
Although many players including Virat Kohli will be available for selection from the second T20 match. Media reports have claimed that if Virat’s bat does not get runs in the next 10 days, then the selectors can think of dropping him from the T20 team.
Former Indian cricketer Wasim Jaffer has said ,
” Now Virat’s place in India’s T20 team is not confirmed. If he is unable to score runs, then other players can be given a chance in his place”.
Virat could not do anything special in IPL too
Even in IPL 2022, Virat Kohli could not do anything special. He batted at a strike rate of just 115 and scored two half-centuries. In such a situation, it will be difficult for Virat to save his place in the team. Virat has not played any T20 match since IPL.
In the only Test match too, he scored 20 and 11 runs. Not much time is left for the World Cup to be held in Australia this year. In such a situation, every match is important for India and everyone’s eyes will be on Virat’s performance.
Edgbaston Test players Rishabh Pant, Ravindra Jadeja and Shreyas Iyer will be available for selection from the second T20I but Virat’s place in the team is not confirmed. In such a situation, there is a lot of discussion about his place in the team.
Wasim Jaffer said in a conversation with a sports website,
“Kohli will play, no doubt about it .His strike rate in IPL has not been very good. His form is also not very good. Deepak Hooda Give you an option with his bowling. That will be taken into account. Though no one will get a chance to replace Kohli as of now, but it may happen in future.”
“I would say that Kohli will get a chance to play a few matches and maybe the selectors will take a decision after that. I don’t think his place in the team is confirmed because a lot of players have done well. In the last T20 World Cup, questions were raised on strike rate, style of play and many other things. I think we should keep looking to the future.”
