IPL 2022: Read here which team has the most promising middle order in this years IPL?
IPL 2022: Today we list down the middle order batsmen for the 10 teams who will compete for the IPL title. Which team has the best middle order, let’s find out.
IPL history suggests that tight matches are won, if the middle order performs well. A strong middle order increases the chances of a teams victory.
1. Chennai Super Kings:
Ravindra Jadeja – The Indian all rounder has been in good form this year and is a vital part of the CSK camp. An experienced player who can turn matches in the favour of his side with both the bat and the ball was retained by the defending champions for 16 crore. A lot is expected from him this season too.
Mahendra Singh Dhoni – One of if not the best finisher the game has seen, wicketkeeper batsman MS Dhoni was retained by the franchise for 12 crore.
Ambati Rayudu – The Indian player performed well in last seasons IPL and is likely to play at the 4th position for the Chennai based franchise. He was rebought at the IPL Mega Auction for 6.75 crore.
2. Delhi Capitals:
Rishabh Pant – The DC skipper was the highest retained player at 16 crore. He would have the responsibility of guiding his team to a formidable total.
Rovman Powell – The West Indian Batsmen was bought by the Delhi based franchise for 2.80 crore in the IPL Mega Auction. Expect a few lusty blows from the hard hitter.
KS Bharat – Played well for RCB last season at the number 3 spot. Will be interesting to see how Delhi Capitals would use the talented Batsmen. He was bought at the IPL auction for 2 crore.
3. Gujarat Titans:
David Miller – The man with the title of scoring the fastest T20 century(35 balls) in International cricket was bought by the new team Gujarat Titans for 3 crore.
Hardik Pandya – The Indian all rounder left the Mumbai Indians and was drafted by Gujarat Titans for 15 crore. He will have to perform to his fullest for his team to have a chance of winning the title. There is also the added responsibility for him of captaining the side.
Vijay Shankar – Another Indian all rounder whose main role would be to guide his team to a strong total and help reduce the burden on skipper Hardik Pandya. The newly formed team bought Vijay Shankar at the IPL Mega Auction for 1.40 crore.
4. Kolkata Knight Riders:
Shreyas Iyer – He was bought at the IPL Mega Auction for a massive amount of 12.25 crore would need to be at his best to prove his worth. The KKR captain can play at the 3rd or the 4th position, depending on the score. He will captain the side for the upcoming IPL season.
Nitish Rana – With the franchise having bought Aaron Finch, there is speculation that Nitish Rana, who opened for them in the 2021 season, would be forced to play in the middle order. The left handed batsman was bought back by the franchise for 8 crore.
Andre Russell – We all know the capability the West Indian all rounder has. He is likely to be the destructor in chief if KKR were to post a big total on the scoreboard. Having been retained by KKR for 12 crore, a lot of the pressure of finishing the innings well would be on the shoulders of Andre Russell.
5. Lucknow Super Giants:
Manish Pandey – A lot of responsibility would be on the ex Sunrisers Hyderabad star Manish Pandey. He would have to play the anchors role or the finishers role depending on the score and the form of teammate Marcus Stoinis. Manish Pandey was bought at the IPL Mega Auction for 4.60 crore.
Marcus Stoinis – The bulky Australian all rounder was drafted by the new franchise for 9.2 crore. His main role would be to show his power hitting ability and help the team to a big total.
Krunal Pandya – Having been bought at the IPL Mega Auction for 8.25 crore, the platform is set for the left arm spinner to showcase his worth at the Tata IPL 2022. He could come in handy with the bat as well.
6. Mumbai Indians:
Suryakumar Yadav – Having been retained by Mumbai Indians for 8 crore, much would be expected from the Indian Batsmen.
Kieron Pollard – Most of the power hitting responsibility would be on the experienced West Indies skipper Kieron Pollard. He can chip in with the ball too. He was retained by Mumbai Indians for 6 crore.
Tim David – Many heads were turned when Singapore International was bought for a whopping amount of 8.25 crore. A lot is expected from the explosive batsmen who has a strike rate of 158.52! His off spin bowling would come in helpful in the middle overs.
7. Punjab Kings:
Shahrukh Khan – The star player was bought back by the franchise for 9 crore. Him alongside Liam Livingstone would want to put on a show for the spectators.
Liam Livingstone – The English star all rounder was bought at the IPL Mega Auction by the Punjab Kings for 11.50 crore. A lot is expected from these two batsmen.
Odean Smith – Mostly a bowler who will come in handy with the bat in the end overs, Odean Smith forms up the middle order for the Punjab Kings. He was bought at the IPL Mega Auction for 6.
8. Royal Challengers Bangalore:
Glenn Maxwell – The Australian all rounder was retained by the franchise for 11 crore. Most of the pressure of the middle order would be on him. The Aussie scored a century in this years big bash and similar things are expected once the Tata IPL 2022 season begins.
Anuj Rawat – The youngster was bought at the IPL Mega Auction for 3.40 crore. A talented player whose role would mainly be to take pressure off of Dinesh Karthik and Glenn Maxwell.
Dinesh Karthik – The Indian wicket keeper batsmen would have the role of striking a few big blows in the dying stages of the match. He was bought by the franchise at the IPL Mega Auction for 5.50 crore.
9. Rajasthan Royals:
Sanju Samson – With the inclusion of Devdutt Paddikal and having two established openers in Jos Buttler and Yashasvi Jaiswal, there are speculations that Sanju Samson might be seen batting at the number 4 spot. He is the skipper of the Rajasthan Royals.
Shimron Hetmyer – He was bought by Rajasthan for his power hitting skills. The big hitting West Indian was bought for a huge amount of 8.50 crore.
Riyan Parag – The player was bought back in the IPL Mega Auction for 3.80 crore. The 20 year old can bowl some useful leg spinners as well, if asked to do so.
10. Sunrisers Hyderabad:
Kane Williamson – The New Zealand skipper would lead the Hyderabad franchise too in the upcoming Tata IPL season. He could bat at number 3 or 4, depending on the score. He was retained by the franchise for 14 crore.
Nicholas Pooran -The left handed wicket keeper batsmen Nicholas Pooran was bought for a huge amount of 10.75 crore at the IPL Mega Auction. The West Indian did not perform to his potential at Punjab Kings, but hopes to turn it around for the orange army.
Abdul Samad – The hard hitting batsman from Jammu and Kashmir was retained by Sunrisers Hyderabad for 4 crore.
