IPL 2022 GT vs CSK Match Preview : All You need to know
IPL 2022: Here are all the stats you need to know as Chennai Super Kings takes on Gujarat Titans at the MCA Stadium in Pune on Sunday.
IPL 2022:CSK in search of their second win, GT look to remain at the Table topper will go against defending champions on April 17 at Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Pune
Rututaj Gaikwad hasn’t been able to bat past the power play this season so far. Moeen Ali too hasn’t been able to create the kind of batting impact that worked for CSK in the last season. For now, Robin Uthappa and Shivam Dube are contributing big in terms of runs.
In Maheesh Theekshana, they found a wicket-taker, which they’ve badly needed this season after their main bowler Deepak Chahar is not available.
Mohammed Shami, Rashid Khan, Lockie Ferguson and Hardik Pandya have done the job on different occasions and could prove hard to deal with for a shaky CSK batting line-up. CSK has depth in their batting lineup but they are not consistent while doing so.
Openers are not able to survive the powerplay which results in a poor opening stand and the base becomes uneven for the remaining batters.
PITCH REPORT:
In Pune, three of the five IPL 2022 matches have been won by the team batting first. The venue has been kind to the bowlers in the second innings, with dew not hampering their plans. CSK has a good record at the venue, with six wins in eight games.
TACTICS:
CSK – Dube has struck at 159 in overs between 7 and 15 for CSK this season. He has a strike rate of 199.28 against pacers while taking down the spinners at 155.93. He has not faced Rashid khan so Gujarat might use Rashid to stop in-form Dube.
GT – The one weak link so far for the Titans has been at the top of the order. Matthew Wade’s form and Vijay Shankar’s poor return, still Gujarat is on top of the table thanks to the batting performance by the skipper, David Miller and Rahul Tewatia in the lower order. But if they need to start well, openers have to fire and show their skills.
HEAD TO HEAD:
Both teams are going to play against each other for the first time
STATS:
1)Dube already has 207 runs this season – just 24 short of his previous best full-season score.
2)Ferguson has 10 wickets in the powerplay since IPL 2021 with a strike rate of 10.80 and an economy of 7.11
3)Titans have picked up 12 wickets (first place) at an average of 18.8 (second place) and a strike rate of 15 (first place)
