Injury concerns in GT Camp as Hardik walked off the field
Match between Gujarat Titans (GT) and Rajasthan Royals, Hardik Pandya stopped in his bowling run-up and left the field.
Rashid Khan, Pandya’s team-mates, who took over captaincy in the last two-and-a-half overs, concurred at the post-match press conference. “Hardik suffered a cramp. It’s not serious. Nothing to be worried about,” he said.
Hardik produced a brilliant performance in the match, as the top-scoring batter with 87 runs off 52 balls while also picking up a wicket. Courtesy of Hardik’s all-round show, Gujarat defeated Rajasthan by 37 runs to go top of the IPL 2022 points table.
Speaking of his side’s performance, as well as the small injury trouble, Hardik said that he got a cramp as he isn’t used to batting for so long.
“Always good to win. It is just cramps. Not used to batting for so long. Gives me time though to calculate. Today I got the rhythm and planned my knock. It allows the others to play freely. I have done the other role where I have scored 12 balls 30. Captaincy is always fun. Be the flagbearer of the team. The team is gelling well. I wanted all of us to be happy for each other’s happiness. That is working well for the team,” said the GT skipper.
Gujarat Titans’ next assignment will be the big match-up against defending champions Chennai Super Kings on Sunday.
the chairman of selectors Chetan Sharma also addresses that if he(Hardik) will be fully fit so that he can contribute both in batting and bowling then only they will consider him for selection for the upcoming ICC Tournaments.
Hardik is leading his IPL team Gujarat Titans from the front, contributing in every department in batting, bowling, fielding and building a good team environment. The team is sitting on top of the points table with 8 points (4 wins in 5 games). Team is looking strong as in the last match David Miller showed his power-hitting skills, making lower batting order trust worthy .
