INDvWI :India scored a hat-trick of wins, won the third ODI by 119 runs
INDvWI The Indian cricket team, captained by Shikhar Dhawan, has clean sweep the West Indies (IND vs WI) 3-0 in the 3-match ODI series at home. India have cleaned up the Caribbean team for the first time in their three-match bilateral ODI series on home soil. Team India defeated the hosts by 119 runs under the Duckworth-Lewis rule in the third ODI of the series. Captain Shikhar Dhawan is extremely impressed with the historic series win. Earlier, Team India had not cleansweeped the West Indies in the three or more match ODI series outside the house. Earlier, India had eliminated the West Indies in the 2022 series at home this year. After the win, Shikhar Dhawan said, “I think the boys are young. He played with a lot of maturity. I am proud of the way he handled himself in the field.” The heroes of India’s victory were openers Shubman Gill, Shikhar Dhawan and Yuzvendra Chahal.
Shubman Gill, however, missed his maiden ODI century. He scored an unbeaten 98 while Yuzvendra Chahal took four crucial wickets. Shikhar Dhawan scored 58 off 74 balls to give the team a century start. Shreyas Iyer scored 44 off 34 balls. Pacers Mohammed Siraj and Shardul Thakur picked up two wickets each. Gill was adjudged man of the match and man of the series.
Talking about his form, Shikhar said, “I am happy with my form. I’ve been playing in this format for a long time. I was happy with the way I performed in the first ODI, and even today I am happy with my performance. The way he (Shubman Gill) scored 98 runs, it was amazing to see him. I am also proud of my bowling unit, who gave their 100 per cent.” The 5-match T20 series between India and the West Indies will now be played. In T20, team India will be in the hands of Rohit Sharma.
