India Women vs Australia Women: 3rd T20I
India Women vs Australia Women: 3rd T20I – The Australian women’s team defeated the Indian women by 21 runs in the third T20I on Wednesday at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai, putting an end to the Indian women’s run chase.
With this victory, Australia now leads the five-match series 2–1. The Australians, who were given the opportunity to bat, when offered the chance to bat first, Australia shed a few early wickets, but Perry’s 75 runs off 47 balls and Grace Harris’ 41 runs off 18 balls assisted the team to 172/8.
Leg-spinner Devika Vaidya (2/22 in 3 overs) and Pacer Renuka Singh (2/24) both performed admirably for India.
Thanks to opener Shafali Verma’s (52) and skipper Harmanpreet Kaur‘s (37), third-wicket stand of 73, India was pretty firmly in the hunt in a difficult chase.
However, after pacer Nicola Carey removed Shafali, the hosts began to lose their confidence. Once Megan Schutt sent Harmanpreet back in the 17th over, India had no chance of recovering.
Smriti Mandhana and Richa Ghosh did not perform properly, scoring only one run each, which added to India’s suffering in the final few overs.
