India Reclaim Number One Spot, Dethrone New Zealand

India defeated New Zealand by huge 372 runs in the second test at Mumbai to accomplish the two-match series 1-0. India washed-up New Zealand’s lower batting order within 40 minutes of action on day four at the Wankhede Stadium. Pursuing an enormous 540 runs, the Kiwis were rolled out for 167 in 56.3 overs. India had dropped the top place in May 2020 after records of the 2016/17 season were excluded as per the commands. They had swayed all five series they worked in throughout that time adding against Australia and England, marking 12 Test triumphs and one failure. On the other hand, Australia had failed to South Africa as well as India in the identical space.

India required less than an hour’s game on Monday morning to catch the last 5 New Zealand wickets and wind up the 2nd Test match and Series. Jayant Yadav pulled up 4 wickets and R Ashwin knocked up the last wicket as India whacked New Zealand by 372 runs, their greatest-ever winning in names of runs in Test cricket.

India captain Virat Kohli, came back to drive the team after he walked down as national Twenty20 skipper and needed a short break, praised the team’s “rational” appearance.

“To come back with a win is a great feeling, returning as the captain it was a clinical performance, something we’ve seen time and again,” said Kohli.
“You want individuals to step up, and guys did that. Even the first Test match was good, this was better.”
