India beats West Indies in the ICC Women’s CWC 2022

The Indian Women’s cricket team have beaten the West Indies in their third group match of the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup on Sunday. India managed to register their second win in their current World Cup campaign as the brilliant batting displays by the duo Smriti Mandhana (123) and Harmanpreet Kaur (109) eventually gave them a massive 155 run victory over their opponents West Indies. The Indian bowling contingent showed their class as well as they dismissed the entire Windies batting lineup at just 162.

The Indian team had won the toss and had decided to bat first. Opener Smriti Mandhana and Harmanpreet Kaur’s phenomenal batting spell helped the Indian team to conjure up a total of 317/8 in the 50 overs. The West Indies chase in the second innings started on a good note as well with both the openers Deandra Dottin and Hayley Matthews scoring 62 and 43 runs respectively.

After a good start to the second innings by West Indies, the Indian bowlers started to take over the show as Sneh Rana and Meghna Singh taking 3 and 2 wickets respectively on crucial intervals of the game to destroy the momentum of the chase. Indian Women’s legendary bowler Jhulan Goswami also managed to take a wicket which made her a record breaker. The Indian pacer is now the leading wicket taker in the ICC Cricket World Cups with a total of 40 wickets in her name now.

This win keeps the Indian team on top of the table in the World cup because of their impressive net run rate over the other teams. It will be interesting to see how the Women in blue fare against their next opponents England.
