India A squad for ACC Men’s Emerging Teams Asia Cup 2023 out

India A squad foe ACC Men’s emerging teams Asia Cup 2023 has been picked by the junior sports committee. The games are to be played from 13^th to 23^rd July in Colombo, Sri Lanka. The tournament to be played between eight Asian nations will be held in a 50-over format.

India A are placed in Group B with Nepal, UAE A and Pakistan A while Sri Lanka A, Bangladesh A, Afghanistan A and Oman A form Group A. The top two teams from each group will advance to the semi-final. The first semi-final will be contested between Group A topper against 2^nd spot holder from Group B while the second semi-final will be contested between Group B topper and 2^nd spot holder from Group A on 21^st July. The final will take place on 23^rd July.

Yash Dhull, the 20 year old youngster from Delhi who was the captain of India U-19 team which won the U-19 World Cup in 2022 has been appointed as the Captain of the India A squad. Dhull’s deputy is the Punjab and Sunrisers Hyderabad allrounder Abhishek Sharma who has been appointed as the Vice Captain. Abhishek Sharma also the won the U-19 World Cup in 2018 under the captaincy of Prithvi Shaw.

The squad selection had no age limit but still India’s junior selection committee chaired by former Karnataka keeper Thilak Naidu selected all the young talents. The main squad conatains some serious young talent with the likes of Sai Sudharshan who scored an exceptional 96 against CSK in the IPL 2023 finals. Prabhsimran Singh, Dhruv Jurel, Riyan Parag, Harshit Rana are also some well known names who performed well IPL.

India A will begin their campaign on July 13 when they face UAE at the Sinhalese Sports Club in Colombo. This young team will also be eyeing to lift the trophy.
