IND vs BAN : Kuldeep Yadav’s miraculous comeback!

IND vs BAN : On day two of the first Test against Bangladesh here on Thursday, Kuldeep Yadav wowed with an all-around effort that helped India seize control.

Kuldeep resumed his “birthday” celebration a day after turning 28 in his amazing run with bat and ball while playing his first Test in more than 22 months. At number nine in the batting order, the left-hander first produced a career-best 40 off 114 balls (5×4) in a 92-run eighth wicket stand with veteran Ravichandran Ashwin (58; 113b), helping India go from 278/6 at the end of the first day to 404 in the first inning.

The left-arm wrist spinner who was introduced to bowl in the 25th over struck off his first delivery and baffled the Bangladesh hitters with his incorrect ones to finish the day with figures of 10-3-33-4, a performance that is sure to boost his confidence.

Bangladesh was 133 for 8 at the end of day two, 271 runs behind India. The hosts still need 72 runs to avoid a follow-on even with two wickets in hand. First, the left-handed opening trio of Najmul Hossain Shanto (1), Zakir Hasan (20), and Litton Das were dismissed by Indian quick Mohammed Siraj, who was having a great day. Siraj’s score was 9-1-14-3 as he shook the Bangladesh top-order.

When Siraj delivered an away-going delivery that caused Shanto to edge, he scored on the very first pitch. Umesh Yadav, who was in charge of maintaining the pace in the absence of Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah, reduced Bangladesh to 5 for 2 in the fourth over by forcing an inside edge off Yasir Ali.

With some fluid drives, Litton Das (24), showed flashes of his form, but Siraj ultimately had the final word.

Additionally, there was some friendly banter between the two sides, particularly after Das made the “I can’t hear you” gesture following a brilliant drive by Siraj. The following delivery was cleaned up by the Indian bowler, who also gave him an angry send-off alongside Kohli. On a roll, Siraj also put a stop to Hasan’s tenacious fight, bringing Bangladesh down to 56/4.

Shakib Al Hasan was dismissed by Kuldeep after the veteran all-rounder from Bangladesh batted against the spin because the situation was ideal for the Indian to make a breakthrough. A reprieve was granted to the Bangladeshi wicketkeeper under the “umpire’s call” rule after he startled newcomer Nurul Hasan with a bad pitch and nearly dismissed him with the following delivery.

Although it wasn’t a rank-turner, he spun the ball squarely, received an uncomfortable bounce, and by the end of the day, the Bangladeshi batters appeared to be at a loss as to how to handle Kuldeep.
