Alyssa Healy scored 72 runs and Alana King claimed two wickets as Australia defeated Pakistan by seven wickets in the ICC women’s World Cup at the Bay Oval on Tuesday. Alyssa Healy and Rachael Haynes, who were chasing 191, produced 60 runs in 11 overs to get Australia off to a quick start. Nashra Sandhu’s dismissal of Haynes (34) in the 11th over provided Pakistan with a much-needed breakthrough, bringing Meg Lanning to the crease.
With 68 runs to go, Australia’s innings went into its 21st over and was led by Lanning and Healy. Lanning was dismissed by Omaima Sohail for 63 runs for the second wicket.
Ellyse Perry scored 26 runs and Beth Mooney scored 23 runs and stayed undefeated for Australia at the crease.
In the first fifty overs, Australia restricted Pakistan to 190/6 with a powerful bowling performance. Bismah Maroof of Pakistan led the way with 78 runs.
For Australia, Alana King got two wickets, with Megan Schutt, Ellyse Perry, Amanda Wellington, and Nicola Carey each taking one.
