ICC Test rankings: R.Ashwin Rises to No. 2 In The All-Rounders Ranking

India’s Ravichandran Ashwin has climbed over teammate Ravindra Jadeja, to go second on the ICC Test Player Rankings for all-rounders. Ashwin claimed eight wickets across the two innings in Mumbai, including four of New Zealand’s top five to bundle the Kiwis for 167. Henry Nicholls was dismissed twice by the off-spinner, who also cleaned up the tail in the first innings, finishing with astonishing figures of 4/8 from eight overs, as India crushed New Zealand for 62.

Ravindra Jadeja slipped down to the fourth position as his teammate overtook him. Jason Holder still holds the first position with a comfortable margin of 382 points. English all-rounder Ben Stokes is in the third position with 348 points just two points above Jadeja.

Ashwin also bridged the gap with top-ranked bowler Pat Cummins after his stellar performance that helped India achieve a 372-run victory. Ashwin gained 43 rating points to reach a total of 883 and is 67 points ahead of third-placed Josh Hazlewood.

TOP FIVE ALL-ROUNDERS

  1. J.HOLDER- 382 POINTS
  2. R.ASHWIN-360 POINTS
  3. B.STOKES- 348 POINTS
  4. R.JADEJA- 346 POINTS
  5. S.A.HASAN- 327 POINTS

Unsurprisingly, New Zealand’s Ajaz Patel made a big jump in the Test bowling rankings after his historic ten-wicket haul in Mumbai, reaching 38th spot in a jump of 23 places.

On the batting side, Indian opener Mayank Agarwal’s superb Test match was rewarded with a 30-place spike, with his 712-rating the best of his Test career. Agarwal made 150 and 62 across his two innings in Mumbai helped him achieve this feat.

India will be up against South Africa next year in a long tour that includes 3 Tests, 3 ODIs, and 4 T-20s.
