I-League Hit By Covid Outbreak
I-League football came under the grip of corona infection on Wednesday after several players from different teams tested positive despite living and playing in a bio-bubble (biologically safe environment).
More than ten people are believed to have been found infected, including at least seven players. Five players from Real Kashmir FC, one each from Mohammad Sporting and Srinidhi Deccan FC have tested positive on Tuesday.
A league source said, “Five players and three officials from Real Kashmir and one player each from Mohammedan Sporting and Srinidhi Deccan FC have tested positive.” Or a decision can be taken on cancellation. There have been positive cases in some teams tweeted by I-League.
This year 13 teams are participating in the I-League and the matches are being held at three venues, Mohun Bagan Ground in Kolkata, Kalyani Stadium in Kalyani and Naihati Stadium in Naihati. Three new teams, Srinidi Deccan FC, Rajasthan United FC and Kenkre FC have also participated in the I-League.
There is no schedule to organize any match in the I-League on Wednesday. Srinidhi Deccan, Mohammedan Sporting, Neroca and Aizawl FC are scheduled to play on Thursday while RKFC next play on Friday.
All players and officials will have to stay in isolation in their hotels for six days. They will be tested twice during these six days.
