Hugh Edmeades will be the face of this year’s mega auction

There is now less than a week remaining in the IPL super auction 2022 mega auction will take place in Bengaluru on February 12 and 13. Meanwhile, there has been some significant news regarding the auction process. Hugh Edmeades of the United Kingdom will once again oversee the auction process. Admeeds will take over for Richard Madley in 2019.

Hugh Edmeades, a British fine art, vintage vehicle, and charity auctioneer. Throughout his 35-year career as an auctioneer at Christie’s, he conducted more than 2,500 sales, selling over three million ten thousand lots for an amount exceeding £2.7 billion. He was appointed as an IPL auctioneer in 2019. His fourth mega auction will take place this year.

Hughes has sold a wide range of things, including paintings by Old Masters, Impressionists, and Contemporary artists, beautiful furniture, and Chinese ceramics. Hughes auctioned 88 guitars owned by Eric Clapton in 2004. The sale raised more than £7.4 million.

Hughes is also known for his auctioneering skills at national and international charity fundraisers. The sales he conducted helped raise more than £97 million for charitable trusts.

He has traveled to over 30 cities for charity work, including Dubai, Hong Kong, Casablanca, New York, Mumbai, Monte Carlo, Los Angeles, and Tokyo. She was chosen as the TV celebrity auction conductor for BBC’s Children in Need auction in 2005. His auctioneering at the Nelson 90th Birthday Gala sold eight lots totaling £4.3 million in 2008.

Christie’s appointed Hughes as Director of International Auctions, a global role. Not only were auctions conducted, but seventy existing auctioneers were evaluated, and new auctioneers were identified and trained.

He stepped down from his full-time position at Christie’s in 2016 to become an independent auctioneer. Organizing more charity auctions and sharing his knowledge and experience with other auction houses has been made possible by Hughes’ success. In December 2018, Hughes was appointed auctioneer for the 2019 Indian Premier League (IPL) by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

Edmeades took over for veteran Richard Madley, who has overseen all IPL auctions since the tournament’s inception in 2008. Madley had indicated his dissatisfaction with being replaced.

Arun Dhumal, the BCCI’s treasurer, confirms this. During an interview with an English website, Dhumal said that Hughes Adams would be returning as an auctioneer. He did a good job last time, and I hope he will do the same this time around.

This will be the 15th season of the IPL, and some of the greatest names in the game will be there to light up the tournament. There are 228 capped players, 355 uncapped players, and seven from Associate Nations among the 590 players.
