High Alert Security In Sri Lanka For The Pakistani Players
In the midst of the Lanka premier League tournament, the Sri Lankan cricket board is highly sensitive towards the security of the Pakistani Cricket player. With the announcement of the Lanka premier League tournament, several international players have shown their interest in being a part of this tournament. Players from England, West Indies, Australia, Zimbabwe, South Africa, New Zealand, and also the Asian countries India, Bangladesh, and Pakistan are participating in the Sri Lankan premier league.
In between the glorious event, the recent killing of a Sri Lankan citizen in Sialkot of Pakistan has drawn the attention of everyone. This unpleasant incident has raised questions towards the Government of Pakistan about the security of foreigners in their country. This incident has got the Sri Lankan people angry and upset with the Pakistani people.
If the wheel of time is rotated backward it is not the first time Pakistan is getting any allegation like this. In the year 2009 Sri Lankan cricket players were attacked by terrorists during their tournament in Pakistan. Players like Kumar Sangakara and Mahela Jayavardhane got injured. After this incident, the tour was called off and several other teams decided not to go to Pakistan for any series after this incident.
Pakistani players participating in the Lanka premier league are Shoaib Mallik, Mohammad Hafiz, Mohammad Amir, Mohammad Irfan, Shoaib Maqsood, Sarfaraz Ahmed, Wahab Riaz, Ahmed Shehzad, Anwar Ali, and Osman Shinwari. All these players are crucial members of the international men’s cricket team of Pakistan. The threat is greater as because the anti-social group may target these Pakistani players and claim revenge for the murder of the Sri Lankan citizen in Sialkot.
This is a matter of concern for both Sri Lanka and Pakistan. It is now in the hands of time time. The actual situation can be seen only after the competition of the event on 23rd of December 2021. The situation is not very happy and pleasant for the players, but being professional the players are continuing with their job. The players are not only the person who is under the threat but also the support staff and coaching team of Pakistani citizenship are under the same threat.
